Hello there! Can't believe the weekend is so nearly over. The working week was particularly long and tiring, so I have made up for it by spending the whole weekend knitting; after catching up on all the housey chores, of course. But now I have a pile of schoolwork waiting to be done this evening. It's been worth it though. A little bit of time spent doing what you fancy is always a GOOD THING!
At long last I have finished the 'Fishbone Gansey' socks that I began way back in July. The pattern is another by Anne Hanson, as always, beautifully written and accurate. I love the finished socks, but don't particularly love the yarn. It's by Renaissance Dyeing and although I like the colour, the dye bleeds over hands and wooden needles and is nowhere near soft and squishy enough for my liking. It's 100% Blue-faced Leicester, but doesn't give a particulary even stitch either.
If you remember, I couldn't make my mind up last weekend, whether to go with the shawlette pattern for the September yarn from Knitspot's 'Fall in Full Color' club, or 'Miss Doolittle', another from Knitspot. As I'm not usually a great fan of small 4ply shawls, I decided to go with the scarf pattern. The yarn is Shalimar Yarns 'Breathless', in colourway 'hazel leaf'. The mix is 75% merino, 15% cashmere and 10% silk.
The pattern is easy enough to memorise and seems to be knitting up quite quickly.
I like the way the colours of early autumn are panning out across the pretty, pleated hem flounce and snowdrop lace pattern.
I've had a tidy up on my projects page over on Ravelry, putting one or two little souls into hibernation for the winter and bringing out 'Gunnerside Ladies', nicely refreshed after a long summer snooze. Do you remember her? I hadn't got very fr, before she fell asleep.
The yarn is a gorgeously deep, dark brown. I hope my mojo returns for this one, before the weather turns too cold.
I also dug out a pair of socks that I had begun, using Posh Yarns Sylvia 4ply, a 50% merino 50% silk mix. What on earth was I thinking of, using this luscious, soft and squishy delight for SOCKS!!!! I frogged immediately, before I had a change of heart and cast on ..............
........ Anne Hanson's 'Aria Delicato'. The pattern is easy to memorise and seems to grow rather quickly, which is always a bonus, as one struggles to get through one's yarn stash, ahem!!!!. The yarn skein is a very generous 440yds, so I'm doing an extra pattern repeat and will also add to the overall length.
Much better use of this gorgeous stuff. I'm loving it already...... pretty pattern and beautiful, subtle colour changes. No chance of this little beauty being returned to the hibernation box. Oh no!
I do have some new yarn to show you too. Think I'll save that for next time though. Can't go sharing TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING all in one go, now can we!
