UUURRRGGGHHH!!!......

It may be done in terms of knitting, but as yet, I've not been able to face this little lot! Ends to sew in at the best of times are not fun, but this little lot ........ NO! I also have little brown noses to sew and also tails. Not a task for a relaxing weekend. I need a degree more 'get up and go' before I tackle the little lovelies. Speaking of which, just look at these little lovelies!

I do love a good chestnut or too. Delicious! Cosy winter days, with the delicious smell of roasting chestnuts drifting through the house. Perfect.

Hopefully it will be even cosier soon, as we are about to have a wood burner installed. We recently uncovered a fireplace in our sitting room that had been filled i with a wooden panel since before we moved in more than twenty-five years ago. I can't believe we had left in place for so long. As we are having a new kitchen in February, the time was right to have our pretty old boiler replaced and repositioned in readiness. Whilst British Gas were on site, it seemed to make sense to have the old gas fire that had been there removed and the gas supply disconnected. We removed the panel and discovered this....

On Thursday, phase one of the process to install the wood burner begins, with the very tall chimney to be lined, the fireplace taken out and the cavity rendered. Then the new slate base and the burner will be fitted on the twentieth. Just in time for Christmas. Better get some logs in ready!!!!!

Fancy that fireplace being there all that time and you not knowing. We have just had a new kitchen and I love it.It seems to have changed the whole house.
I hate sewing ends in,making things up.I can knit for ever but come to the making up and I find it a chore.Hope it isn't too hectic in school.

That fireplace is amazing! It will look fabulous with a wood burner. Don't envy you those ends, you need something mindless to listen to while you are getting the job done. Have a good week, not long now! xx

It's always so nice to knit and to sew but the finishing details are often so boring. I hope you get yours doen quickly. Have a wonderful week! x Teje

Urghh to the ends! The not-fun part of knitting. Good luck with the renovations - the mess is never fun either!

I'm with you on finishing off those ends but excited about the fireplace. Fantastic ! Hope you get it in for Christmas as I imagine you'll miss your gas one in the meantime. ... and a new kitchen? The English kitchen shops we saw had lovely display kitchens so can't wait to see yours.
Cheers

Nothing like a fireplace this time of year! I grew up without one, so I was always fascinated by them. Now I'm lucky to have one, and we use it a lot in winter. Today was our first real snow--looks like Christmas card outside. Lovely to catch up with you after returning from some travels and Thanksgiving break in the US. I'm in a place of trying to find a harmony in all there is to do at the moment and still find time to enjoy the things I love to do--like painting, etc. This time of year is such a challenge in that respect... so I know I'm not alone in that. ;o) Happy Holly-Days, Ros ((HUGS))
