OUT WITH THE OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW!

Well, there's not much 'woolly' stuff going on here in my neck of the woods. This week has involved a mass evacuation of our kitchen; in readiness for a total makeover, beginning tomorrow. This photo shows just one end of the room; so about half of the kitchen. There has been lots of junk disposal and the ceremonial smashing up of the thirty year old table and chairs! Very therapeutic in a strange sort of way. The boiler has been replaced and located in a more favourable position. You can see here the large, previous monstrosity had been. The new one will be hidden inside a unit. So, we are left with a microwave for the next couple of weeks...... looks like lots of jacket potatoes, and salad will be on the menu. There is just young Oscar's den to move out this evening and Mr Snoops' walking boots. Best remember them so that they don't end up in the rubbish skip tomorrow! He would be none too pleased.

Most things are sorted, as the plan has been in place since last September. However, I do need to decide on curtain fabric for the doors. There is a window at the other end of the kitchen, but that will have a linen coloured, or light grey wooden blind.

The overall colour scheme goes like this: linen wood units, dark grey/black granite worktops and lighter grey slate Amtico floor. The walls will be a very, very pale grey, with a white ceiling with set in spotlights.

The inside of the units will be natural oak and our doors are oak, so there will be some woody tones around too, just for good measure.

So, the dilemma is which to choose. Which one will I go for I wonder?

Oh just the time of year for a bit of revamping and chucking out. I love the doors at the end of your kitchen and I'd go for curtain fabric number two, but then what do I know. Whatever you decide I'm sure it will be gorgeous, do show us when its done.

Another vote for number 2 from me, although I do like the bright red poppy fabric. But I wonder if it might just be a bit too much! Can't wait to see it all finished!

It all sounds very good. I think I would go for the red but they are all nice designs. Maybe you could have two pairs and change them around every so often! Hope it all goes well.

I love the red fabric, but also the second one down too. Good luck with it all, and I hope it goes smoothly.

VERY exciting with your kitchen improvements, Ros! LOVELY fabrics, tough choice. I like the second fabric with the large leaf and "vine," but I also like the print with seed-heads and splashes of red too! I like your color/scheme for the kitchen. We are just about to begin phase two of our home improvements and makeover/paint two small rooms upstairs. Last summer/autumn was making over 4 spaces on the ground floor. Almost done... LOL! Happy Days ((HUGS))

Lovely fabrics, all of them. Tough choice.

Tough choice with the fabrics but lovely ones to choose from. I guess it depends how "modern" you want your look to be. The red would certainly add some warmth and life to the room... especially if you plan on other touches of red.
