BEST BE GETTING ON WITH IT......

So, at long, long last half-term has arrived. There's time to breath, time to relax, time to knit and time to recharge those totally empty batteries. It's what teaching in a busy city centre school does to you! We have our two married children and their families arriving towards the end of the week, with little Sophie and baby Jess. I can't wait to see them!

So for now I'm making the most of a little knitting time. I somehow doubt that this shawl will be finished in time for Baby Batman, who is due to arrive at the very beginning of January, but who knows. I'll keep on going, slowly but surely and see what happens.

The pattern is not too tricky, but still requires complete attention, which is why you can see lifelines! I've learnt the hard way to many times before. They have already come in useful several times, as I have had to 'tink' back to correct an error.

I'm loving the pretty little heart pattern that's developing and the five stitch nupps are bearable. I've realised that the seven stitch version is a 'no go' area for me.

It's looking pretty uneven at present, but that's the nature of laceweight yarn. It'll come into its own once it's been soaked and properly blocked. There is still a pretty long way to go............. best get on with it!

I am so impressed that your beautiful work. I have some rather expensive lace weight handspun that I didn't even manage to wind without snapping a dozens of times. Now I'm not sure if I will ever use it. You are obviously a much more relaxed and experienced knitter/winder than me.

That is such an intricate pattern. I applaud you for doing it. I don't think I would have the patience. The lifelines are a good idea. I hadn't heard of them before.

Oooo... this looks like a very ambitious project, Ros! VERY pretty pattern. Enjoy your time with family. It's good to be back here visiting you! Recent weeks, months really, have been very tough--especially on the health-front. But things are looking up now, thankfully! I hope to be around when I can now I'm feeling better, but am online a little less these days. Not such a back thing, a step away from technology--LOL... Wishing you & yours well always & HAPPY DAYS! :O) ((HUGS))
