SPRING, SWEATER AND SOCKS........

Love a splash of daffodil yellow at this time of year. Thought I'd be kind and share!

Some knitting has been going on! Spurred on by the fairly rapid completion of my first pair of socks of the year, I seem to be in the zone. I cast on this sweater at the beginning of last week. The yarn and pattern book have been sitting around since last summer, since I spent the birthday voucher from two of my children, in the local yarn store.

My choice was limited really, but after a couple of visits to try and find something I liked, I ended up with some Debbie Bliss 'fine donegal' and the pattern book to go with it. I'm making a sweater for myself, which means I need to 'keep at it', or it has every chance of remaining in the unfinished stage of it's life for ever! The pattern is 'Guernsey'. The yarn is pretty although I have to say, I'm not a massive fan of the thick and thin nature of these tweedy yarns. I like the way it's knitting up and the little splashes of colour from the tweedy nubbs.

As though one pair of socks and a sweater were not enough stitches to be contending with, I have been seduced by this little beauty. I just love the softness of the pretty stripes. I cast on on the spur of the moment, with the intention off these being my 'car journey' socks for the half-term holiday coming up soon, but before I knew it, I had been carried away by the addictive and mesmerising effect of this pretty yarn.

I really need to get a grip though, as a pretty high mountain of schoolwork lays in wait; its demands for attention becoming more and more unsubtle.

On our stroll through the park and city centre yesterday morning, we came across these little lovelies; quietly watching the world go by close to our coffee-stop. They were there as part of a 'Making' festival taking place throughout the month of February. I loved seeing the three different shades of coat; each equally as beautiful.

Our sunny stroll through the park offered hopeful signs that Spring is definitely on her way....

We've had a pretty busy weekend. After a trip to theatre on Friday evening to see the Richard Alston dance company, last evening saw us at Mr Snoops' Bridge Club Quiz and Chines evening. We had fun and also came home with a couple of raffle prizes; these freshly laid eggs being one of them. They have been swiftly pickled this afternoon. I do love a good pickled egg!

I do like how the sweater is knitting up. The stripy socks are fun too. I'll pass on the pickled eggs if it's all the same to you! 5 days and counting! xxx

I like your choice of wool for the sweater. I find I knit faster just to reach the next colour.

The daffies are so cheerful! Love the purple wool for the sweater. We can't wait to see it finished.

Definitely something in the air, I have just cast on a sweater too though struggling a bit as I'm trying to use up a cone of unidentified stash yarn. It may all be a waste of time but I'm not short of that. Liking the socks too, have a great week.

Oh I love the colour of the sweater, keep on with it, I am sure it will look amazing when it's finished. Love your pictures of all the Spring flowers, although it's also bittersweet... Have a lovely week, Anna

You do love your socks ;) And I enjoy seeing your choices of yarns and colors.
Like you, I'm not a fan of the thick/thin yarns. The purple is very nice, however.
Spring Flowers!! Yay!
