GREETINGS FROM VERY SUNNY YORKSHIRE...

Good evening...... albeit rather late evening for some! We arrived in Pickering, North Yorkshire, on Friday and so far have had superbly pleasant weather. Long may it continue! A six hour journey (including puppy and human 'comfort' breaks) meant plenty of captive knitting time!!

I have finally managed to complete my 'It's Getting Warmer' socks. I love the pattern,  Charade, a free Ravelry download and the Schoppel-Wolle Crazy Zauberball is very colourful,  BUT... I think it's going to felt fairly quickly. It's got that kind of fuzzy halo around it. Also, the colour repeat didn't happen! I made two socks and they actually look quite different. One has rather tweedy looking colours and the other has purer colours. Both look great, but they look like they are each missing their true love! Can you see what I mean?

I've found time to start a couple of new projects too. More socks! I just LOVE knitting socks!

The yarn is Trekking XXL left over from the baby Rainbow jacket. The pattern, Primavera, asked for two 100g balls, but the jacket only took one and a teeny, tiny bit of the second. So, I 'm hoping for a pair of socks and  some left over for my 'Sock Yarn Blankie' too. Now that's economical use of yarn! Here they are so far...

I've also started to make a sweater, using the Manos del Uruguay 'Silk Blend' that I received as a Christmas gift from Mr Snoopydog. I spent a long time trying to find a suitable pattern, ending up with 'Artist', a Manos pattern.

I like the detail on the sleeve....

We've had a lovely few days so far, relaxing and taking life at a slow, slow pace. Just great! Today, our son and daughter-in-law, along with Scott the dog, and our eldest daughter and her boyfriend, came to spend the day with us. It was so good  to spend some quality time together, relaxing in the sunshine and catching up, before heading off for Sunday lunch at the 'Fox and Rabbit', just outside Pickering, on the edge of Dolby Forest. These kind of days are priceless! Oscar and his big bro Scott had some 'quality' time together too :)

Yep! We're having a great Easter break!
I'll leave you with a few sunset pics, taken this evening from Pickering castle mound....

And what about this one... taken half an hour later from just outside our cottage! Odd, but I like it!

Sometimes, you just need to step back and take time to think about what really matters in life for you. For me, its ......... family, friendship, natural beauty..................... and KNITTING! :)X
Have a great week!

The socks are beautiful.

Don't mind their difference, it's funny actually!
(which law tells us to wear identical socks? Hahahaaa)

Have a nice break!

Ooooooh I LOVE labradors (we're a lab-crazy family), they're just gorgeous with such fantastic funny personalities! Loved the sunset photos - it looks lovely where you are. Your day sounds like my ideal day too - family, pub lunch, knitting, sunset, dogs.....

Oh I love the socks - both pairs (the Zauberball pair look really different to me), and Manos will make a lovely sweater. I recently saw someone wearing one and (geekily) instantly recognised it as Manos, and it felt and looked really good.

Oh, how beautiful it is there! Look at those skies.. So glad you are having a wonderful time in Yorkshire, Ros! Those rainbow socks are such fun--so cheerful for happy feet. And the cable detail on the sleeves of the jumper is so lovely--the subtle green wool you've chosen is wonderful for this project. So thrilled to see Oscar & Scott... Happy Days to you all in Yorkshire! ((HUGS))

Love the socks and they are just right being odd as one's feet are not a perfect match either.
Yorkshire sounds lovely, home of some of my ancestors.
You certainly have been busy with the needles.
Those two handsome lads look like they're enjoying the break too.
Have fun!

if that first photo wasn't amazing, which it was, the others are just fantastic!
you really are a superb photographer and crafter.
those boys oscar and scott are melting my heart again xx
they are both so gorgeous!!!
i think lily has got a crush on scott. she adores oscar too of course, but he is not mature like scott.
your socks are wonderful! it's something i've never knitted and have always meant to give it a try... trouble is i don't do patterns very well as am dyslexic and dyspraxic. i wonder if there are any on-line tutorials? must look in to that. anyway, yours are beautiful...the rainbow colours are magic! :o)

wishing you and yours a super-duper week xoxoxox
