I HEART MY 'SPRITELING'!

It's finished! I love everything about it! I have so, so, so enjoyed making this. It's the first time I have blocked anything. Socks don't need it!!! I can see from the pic I have a few little ajustments to make to the pins, before it dries, but I am soooooooo pleased with it. It's so cool to knit something that you haven't seen a picture of and not know what it's going to look like until you have finished...................... and blocked it. It's almost doubled in size from the fuzzy little thing that was on my circular.

I won some 'SOAK' at 'Knit Nation' last year, which I used to soak it for about 20 minutes. Then I laid it out on a large towel and carefully wrapped up and give it some gentle squeezes to help  get rid of the excess water and then spent forever, pinning it out. I used my new rods to set the top nice and straight to start with. Then smoothed out from the centre. It's quite a tricky process, I now realise! No five minute shove it down and stick the pins in, oh no. It took me the best part of an hour, fiddling and re-doing and fiddling again and straightening. I can see it STILL neeeds another little adjustment.

I love the pretty little edging that was formed by the crochet cast-off. How clever!
I love the clever patterning that gives the pretty wavy look. In fact, I love everything about it. Can't wait to hold it and fondle it and wear it, once it's dry. I think there may be a lace addiction starting!!!!

Sorry about my quick visit this evening, but I still have 'mountains' to climb before I can go to school tomorrow ....... !

However, I'd like to share a couple of pics with you of some artwork that children in my class have worked on. They have mounted for an art exhibition. The children were thrilled to see their work in proper frame :-) O aploogise for the window pane reflections. I snapped away with my camera, as they were being shown in assembly and didn't even notice!

This was a charcoal sketch called 'Juliet drinks the poison'. We had worked with a chamber orchestra around 'Romeo and Juliet' music (Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky and Gershwin). I love the lines in this one.

This one was created with paintbrush, sponge and collage. It's called 'Tossed on the Ocean' and the stimulus came from the fabulous book called, 'The Mousehole Cat'. It's got a real 'tossed about' feeel to it.

Finally, this one, called 'Autumn Mist'. We used leaves, wax crayons and Brusho to achieve the effect. I love the shapes and coours.

I'll leave you with a photo taken this morning, of the tree colours in our garden. I had to stop for a moment to look. Beautiful!

Have a good week everyone!

Wow!! Your Spriteling is fabulous!!! Hope you're feeling suitably proud! I always have problems pinning things out too. I imagine there has to be an easy way to do it that I haven't stumbled upon.

The shawl is beautiful! So clever too. I like the children's artwork too. I see you have many unfinished projects-the best way I think. I loved your picture of the sock with the pansies-the colours are beautiful. Hope you got all your school work done-I seem to do hardly anything else at the moment! Have a good week.

Lovely, lovely Spriteling! Wow! I'm impressed.
I agree about the sock yarn blankie. Mine continues to grow slowly and I love adding to it.
Best wishes to your daughter and congratulations to her fiance!
