HENLEY WITH A TWIST!!!!!!
Here it is, at last! My 'Henley with a Twist' is finally finished. This was the project I set out to complete over the school summer holidays and I've succeeded. The Anne Hanson pattern is superb;so easy to follow, everything well explained and the fit...... well, for me, the fit is absolutely perfect. This is the first sweater or cardi I've made for myself that actually fits!!! It's fantastic, I love it!
I made it one inch longer in the body than stated, but really didn't need to. I worried about the fit, as the pieces seemed quite small. However, once blocked and steamed, the garment was spot on. The pattern makes it very stretchy.
The placket front opening looks lovely with a t-shirt under!
I tried the shaping two or three times until I was happy with it. I didn't want lots of stocking stitch visible, as the pattern diminished with the decreasing. So, sometimes I had to play around a little with decreases and increases, to get the desired effect. I'm more than happy with the result, as the shaping is relatively inconspicuous.
I wanted small, plain, matt, bluey-green buttons, but couldn't find the perfect ones. My final choice was for some shell buttons turned over, so that the mottled, matt back is seen, rather than the shiny front. They pick up the subtle sandy-brown undertones in the yarn.
The 'Woolen Rabbit' yarn is fabulous to work with and I have to say...... I need some more NOW!

Oh it's just gorgeous! I want one too so we can be Henley twins!
Oh my, it's gorgeous! The cable pattern is very pretty, and you're right about the fit, it's superb. Happy wearing!
Lovely ... and a perfect fit too. Guess you will be getting quite a bit of wear out of it soon.
Cheers
Helen
It looks gorgeous on you, Ros, well done!
Very pretty! Looks like the kind of jumper you will get lots of wear out of!
That is lovely. Well done!
WOW, Ros... this is such a pretty fit, and love the color, and those shell buttons too--all in all, a triumph! That small cable pattern is really lovely. I find knitting sweaters for myself frustrating, as getting the right size/fit seems so hard a lot of times. And I'm not always clever or brave enough to make major changes to a pattern...LOL... Hence the small knit projects. ;o) You're a knitting wonder & inspiration, Ros! Happy Day ((HUGS))
It's gorgeous, and you're right, it fits perfectly. Finished just in time for autumn too, I bet you'll be wearing it plenty over the next few months.
Ros, that is so beautiful! And my style too, even I should make it more 'loose'. I'm fan of t-shirt and and a jumper. You have chosen lovely pattern, so beautiful yarn and those buttons fit really well!

What a beautiful sweater! It's just gorgeous!
Roz, I LOVE this sweater! If it were cooler here in SoCal I'd make that in a lovely wool. I wonder if it would work in a cotton/bamboo blend.
Your holiday at the North Sea looked like the perfect time!
