SUN, SEA AND DALBY FOREST.....

Good evening from sunny North Yorkshire. It's Robin Hood's Bay that you're looking out over! We've had a very lovely time up here over the last ten days and sadly, leave for home tomorrow, but with lots of happy, fun-filled family time memories to keep us going. The weather has been kind, which has meant we have been out and about every day, which hasn't left much time for any knitting. I hope I'll be able to rectify that on the five and a half hour journey home tomorrow, as I plan to finish the front of my Henley en route. It will just need the front and neck borders then, to complete the knitting. I'll try to block on Tuesday or Wednesday and post the finished project during the week for you all to see! Yay!

For tonight, I'll give you a short photographic tour of our days spent relaxing and enjoying each other's company. Nowadays, there are quite a few of us when we all get together! Our eldest and his wife have little Sophie and Scott the dog. Then there is our 'middle one' and her fiance and last but not least, our 'baby'... who is now twenty-six! We bring young Oscar dog along too, of course! Oh, and we had visitors for dinner on Thursday.

Little Sophie is now fourteen months old and needed very little initiation into good seaside behaviour .

She adored putting sand and stones into her bucket and soon got the hang of using a spade. The cold North Sea was a very big hit!!!!!

Oscar has had the best time ever.........

... swimming.....

..... playing....

.... sleeping....

...... and even peeing!.... alongside his half-brother and best buddy, Scott.

There has to be some yarny or knitty connection to a holiday and guess what, it 'happened' yesterday. We paid a rather impromtu visit to the Rosedale Show and I managed to come home with a large bag of alpaca.

I have no idea about the quality of the stuff, but thought I'd give it a go.  The very cute pair of alpacas (see pics above) made it a very easy decision to make.

Just before we came away, I received my Knitspot 'Autumn in Full Color Club' parcel. I didn't show you last week, as many of the members may not have received their woolly packages and it would have spoilt the surprise. Inside, was the scrummy August yarn and a surprise addition of a beautiful little project bag.

The 'Spirit Trail Fibreworks' Nona yarn is stunning, a beautiful mix of  50% merino, 25% cashmere and 25% Bombyx silk. I had the yarn wound and the needles ready to be packed, ready for the pattern release on August 15th, but decided to 'hold fire' until I return home.

Woohoo! An exciting new project to look forward to casting on!!!! I'll let you see how far I've got next time.

I'll leave you with a beautiful evening sky, captured on Thursday evening, as we left the 'Fox and Rabbit'.

How beautiful the sky and sea is.
As soon as I saw the pic of the alpacas I knew you'd fallen for their fleece. It is sooo soft isn't it.
Sophie is getting taller every time you share her sweet pic.
As for the lads, well they melt my heart.
Have a great week.

What a lovely family holiday it turned into, and I recognise a couple of those places in the photos. Glad Oscar and his pal also had fun!

Hi, Ros! Oh, this post has everything... fantastic views, fiber, dogs, and sweet Sophie...*sigh*... Just love knitting with alpaca fleece--it is the best to knit with I think. I just bought some purple alpaca and am going to have a go at a simple shawl with lacy edge. I've been behaving and not buying too much fiber for a while now... LOL! Thanks for your lovely comment at my place. The creative mix here at the moment is very exciting. No worries about comments getting through--I do see them all and try to get them through comment moderation quick as I can. There seems to be a delay with that verification which is confusing sometimes, but it's all good. Thanks for your beautiful catch up on your summertime fun! Happy Days ((HUGS))

It looks like you had a wonderful time. Robin Hood's Bay is a lovely place, though I haven't been this year, I must take a trip there soon. The picture of Oscar is just gorgeous, and Sophie is so cute in her polka dot hat. Family holidays are the best.
