THE DREADED O WORD!

Hello there! Sorry I missed you last weekend, but I had just surfaced from a visit by the dreaded OFSTED inspectors! They arrived on Thursday and left on Friday afternoon. I survived to fight another day, but the whole experience leaves everyone involved totally drained and you seem to learn nothing that you didn't already know!

I'm sorry for the poor quality of my photos today, but the light is appalling and I left it too late on a very dull and rainy day to take them. As you might notice, this is NOT the shawl I started a few weeks ago. I was having issues with the laciness of the pattern. It was looking rather too lacy for my liking and I seemed to be making very slow progress as the pattern, although not complicated, needed total concentration. That's hard during term time!!!

So, as time is pressing on and the new little bundle is due on January 2nd, drastic steps needed to be taken. I frogged and quickly found a new pattern on Ravelry that I liked a lot more. By coincidence it is by the same designer. It's the 'Annabell Estonian Shawl' by Judy Furlong.

I didn't have time to pin out my progress so far so that you could see the pattern so far, but you can get a flavour of it. I'm just about to start the motif section. Fingers crossed it won't need superhuman powers of concentration in order to complete it without errors.

Watch this space and I'll try to get enough done to make it work pinning out for a better lok next weekend. Have a fun week!

At least you know that you can relax for the rest of the year and just get on with the business of being in the classroom! Hope you manage to get in some good knitting time this week. xx

Oh dear Ofsted! Just the word brings dread. We could be due for one this year too. Glad to hear you survived, and can enjoy the rest of the year now.
Lovely knitting, but it looks incredibly complicated!

This OFSTED business sounds awful. Glad it's over for you. That shawl seems a huge project but I'm confident you'll get it done on time. It will be very necessary in January!

Full of admiration for you tackling a complicated knit with everything else going on in your busy life. I was thinking I'd start something fine and lacy while I'm on my own, peace and quiet, plenty of time, as usual I'm knitting socks.

What a beautiful pattern, it's so delicate. I have the greatest admiration for lace-weight knitters. It's looking great so far, good luck with it!
