FIRST PROJECT OF 2016!

Now there's a turn up for the books. A project finished already and we are only just into double figures! Admittedly, I cast these little beauties on a couple of days before the new year began because I just couldn't keep my hands off the scrummy yarn. The pattern in 'Dave' by Rachel Coopey and the yarn is 'Twinkle Gobstopper' by Easyknits in colour way 'winter warmer'.

There's no doubt about it, stripes make the job so much quicker! There's always 'just one more' stripe to knit before........ love it!

Here we go then, on with the plain red ribs for me eldest daughter. No stripes to encourage me now, so I'm on my own. Need to press on with these and complete by the end of the month. That's the 'carrot' so that I keep a little more up to speed this , rather than letting schoolwork dominate my every waking moment. So far, so good!

We've just been out for a bite of lunch and look what I spotted in the front garden. Quite a few of these little pretties are in bloom, oh dear! Not sure what will happen in the Spring!

The socks are delightful Ros, such vivid make you smile colours.
As for the daffodils already that is alarming. Our Winter here has been so Springlike that there were several crabapple trees at the horticultural school that were in full blossom. They will not flower again once the true Spring arrives and if the fruit trees here follow the same pattern we will be in trouble. Hopefully that Elnino thing will dissipate soon and correct the seasons we so desperately need.
Have a good week...

I love those socks.Just what is needed in January. Are they for you and if they are I hope you wear them in school.Lots of street cred with the kids!
I worry about the effects of this early spring will have on the rest of the year.Quite scary ,really.
AS you may remember our daughter is a Year 6 teacher.Thank goodness she only works part time. The hours she spends out of the classroom, her own time, marking and planning etc is scary.I phone her on her days off and ask what she is doinG.Answer ,schoolwork.
I was lucky in my teaching years were free of all this.

Love the bright socks. A little bit of sunshine in the dark days of winter.

I worry that snow will come and decimate the early shoots, don't you!

Hope you can do more lovely yarny things, and less of the dreaded school work, but we both know, sadly, that the job just sucks you in!!! I really don't miss it at all.

Happy New Year to you too xxx

You've already finished a pair of socks this year?! You are like my knitting speed hero. I have had the same pair of socks on the needles for probably (I kid you not) 6 years. Actually it might be more. I don't know what it is about me and socks but I never ever manage to finish the second one. Yours are such a fun and happy way to start the year!

WOW, Ros, that was FAST! LOVE those happy-colored socks! And the lush red of the ones on the needles too--gorgeous color! After a post-Christmas slump, I've picked up my crochet hook--and very excited to be crocheting my first garment! But the first finished item for 2016 was a sewn cover for our new toaster in the kitchen which sits out often. So practical, but pretty. ;) LOVELY to see the daffs... We're knee-deep in snow here, evidence of spring is weeks & weeks away... LOL! Be taking good care there, all of you! ((HUGS))
