Hello 2010! Hello to a new colour scheme too. Hope you like it. I hadn't planned on a change, but just started playing this afternoon (anything to avoid school preparation :)) and before I knew it I'd clicked 'save' and got a whole new funky pink blog! I'm not normally a particularly 'pink' kind of person, so we'll just let it settle in for a while and see what we think.
I'm not quite sure where 2009 went. It seemed to rush by very quickly. December passed in a flash and I am still plodding on with my December socks. Here's the first one finished in the photo above. I can't show you the final collection from the '2009 Sock Challenge' until this pair is finished, so you must wait until next week.
I have banned myself from beginning any new 2010 projects until ALL previous items are completed. Hmmm! It could be a little while before there's anything new to excite me! How strong is my willpower, I wonder. I think I know the answer to that one, but I'm going to give it a go and see how many of my WIPs I can complete before the lovely new challenges can begin. So, 2010 projects 'in the pipeline' are very firmly under wraps for now. The yarn is bought, the patterns chosen. You're just gonna have to wait and see, because first.........
I have another pair of socks to complete....

My Cora scarf....

A mitten to match this one......

Oh, there's also the beret that I began with Woolly Wormhead at 'I-Knit' back in September. I suspect this one may be frogged as I was supposed to be designing it myself and I've somehow lost the plot a little. I will use the yarn, but to knit a different hat, I think!!!! I have a pair of Fetchings set to go too that I will attempt to get done, but the 'Very Special Teddy' will come under new 2010 projects.
Whilst the 'gang' were all at home for Christmas, my son clambered up into the loft looking for the black binbags of baby clothes that are decidedly retro.....he's 29 and his sisters 27 and 24! Our little grand-daughter is due to be born in May and he and his wife were keen to see if they could put any of the carefully washed and packed away garments and bedding, to good use. They have taken home a good sized bundle of blankets, babygros and little dresses. Oh, the memories that came flooding back and the 'oohs!' and 'aahs!'. Priceless!
Amongst the bits and pieces were two very special items that I wanted to share with you before carefully tissue papering and packing back into their boxes. The first is the Christening gown that I knitted way back when my son was a couple of months old. It was trimmed with lace and silk lined. The second is a large white shawl that I made around the same time.

It seems no time at all since I was making them, back in 1980 and now here we are in 2010 and my eldest child and his wife are expecting a first child of their own. My, how time flies!
So, best make the most of 2010 and get on with that knitting and crocheting! There'a clue there somewhere about Snoopydog's 2010...... the clue is crochet. I'm going to be attempting a lot more of it; inspired of course by Lucy over at Attic 24. Thanks Lucy, you're inspirational!
A HAPPY WOOLLY YEAR TO YOU ALL! Make the most of all those moments when you could knit just one more row!
Have a good week everyone.
